Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh formed his cabinet Wednesday, with Governor Shekhar Dutt administering
the oath of office to nine ministers at Raj Bhavan.
In allocation of portfolios later, tribal MLA Ram Sewak Painkra was made in-charge of the key ministry of home. In the last Raman cabinet too the department was headed by a tribal,Nanki Ram Kanwar, who lost the election this time with four other ministers.
Apart from Painkra, the first-time ministers are Ramsheela Sahu (women and child welfare),Ajay Chandrakar (panchayat and culture) and Prem Prakash Pandey (revenue). Vikram Usendi and Dayal Das Baghel, members of the last cabinet, were dropped for alleged non-performance,while Brijmohan Agarwal (agriculture),Amar Agarwal (health),Rajesh Munat (PWD),Kedar Kashyap (tribal affairs) and Puunu Lal Mohile (food) were retained.
Since the Chief Minister holds finance, mining, energy, forest and several other important portfolios,a cabinet expansion is likely after the Lok Sabha elections next year.
