2 students in TN held with illegal firearm

Two engineering students from Bihar were arrested for possessing a country-made pistol without licence and threatening a person in Tamil Nadu

Two engineering students from Bihar were arrested for possessing a country-made pistol without licence and threatening a person in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

According to the police,Ranjit Kumar,a resident of Bihar,and his brother Surjit Kumar worked as cooks and helpers at an eatery in Chennai. Surjit had not received Rs 1,200 of his salaray and when he left for his native place,Ranjit approached the owner of the eatery for the money.

On March 17,Ranjit received a call from one Sudhir Singh,asking him to come to collect the money. But when he reached there,four persons including the two students,Parithosh Pandey,20,and Shekar Anand,20,beat him,the police said. Pandey brandished a gun and threatened to kill him if he demanded the money again.

After receiving a complaint from Ranjit Wednesday night,the police raided the residence of the students and seized the arms.
