2 more arrests in Jharkhand gangrape

Dhanu Ram and Anurag Basu were arrested on Saturday morning from the town’s new bus stand.

The Hazaribagh police on Saturday made two more arrests in the alleged rape of a minor girl by four men,ensuring all the accused named in the FIR are now in custody. Dhanu Ram and Anurag Basu were arrested on Saturday morning from the town’s new bus stand. The other two,Sonu Kumar and Ritesh Kumar,were arrested on Friday.

Dhanu,listed as the main accused,is the son of police inspector Arjun Ram,who is posted in Ranchi with the CID. All the accused are more than 22 years old.

The victim’s family said that according to the girl,there were nine boys involved,but she could name only four. “We have arrested all those named in the FIR. As things stand,there may not be any more arrests,” said Hazaribagh SP Manoj Kaushik.
