Kuala Lumpur: An ethnic Indian man has been gunned down and two others seriously injured by motorbike-borne assailants in Malaysia’s Penang state. The 19-year-old identified as M Ravindran was shot thrice near the left ribs late Saturday night outside a temple in Butterworth town. Two others aged 51 and 18,who were not identified,were hospitalised. The suspects rode up to them before one of them drew out a pistol and shot them. PTI

Peshawar: At least two terrorists were killed when a US drone struck a suspected militant hideout in a tribal region close to Afghan border in northwest Pakistan,the first such attack in the month of Ramadan. The CIA-operated drone fired two missiles late Saturday,targeting a motorcycle and a compound in village Dawar Musaki tehsil Mir Ali in North Waziristan Agency,sources said. PTI

Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari is expected to leave Pakistan after completing his term as President on September 8 due to security threats and fears about the reopening of graft cases,a report on Dawn newspaper’s website stated.
