A car bomb explosion ripped through a bus terminal in Peshawar,northwestern Pakistan,on Thursday,killing 15 people including two children and wounding at least 35,the provincial information minister said.
A senior government official said the explosives had been planted in a white car parked at the Kohat bus terminal,triggering a blast that destroyed more than 20 other vehicles.
A hospital doctor put the death toll at 12 but said many wounded were in critical condition. Mian Iftikhar Hussain,the information minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province,put the overall toll at 15. There was no immediate claim of responsibility,but a senior official said the police had been warned of a possible strike by Lashkar-e-Islam,a pro-Taliban militant group,in retaliation for a continuing military operation in Khyber tribal area adjoining Peshawar.
