Among the names that cropped up after the recent arrests of the alleged Indian Mujahideen IM modules was Shahrukh and Riyaz Bhatkal. Shahrukh is alleged to have supplied the explosives for the recent serial blasts across the country, while Bhatkal is suspected to have “masterminded” the blasts along with Atif Ameen, Mohammad Sadiq and Amir Reza Khan. Now, investigating agencies suspect that both Shahrukh and Bhatkal may be the same person.

Sources said that since his name was linked to the 1993 Mumbai blasts, Bhatkal may have used the name Shahrukh to protect his identity.
