CHANDIGARH, May 20: The state level convention of university and college teachers representing all the four universities and government and non-government colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh today demandedimmediate implementation of UGC pay scales, and enhancement in the retirement age to 62 years. Teachers also demanded quota-free running scales, and readers’ designation to college teachers. According to the convener of the coordination committee, Dr N.S.Mann, elected representatives of Punjab Federation of University Teachers Association (PFUTA), Government College Teachers Association (GCTA), Guru Nanak Dev University Teachers Association (GNDUTA), Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) and Punjabi University Teachers Association (PUTA) participated in the convention.

Among those who spoke on the occasion was Rana Nayar of PU, Charanjit Chawla of SGGS College, and Prof Parminder Singh of GNDU among others.
