Two persons were killed and 13 others injured in a road accident that occurred near Mahuvad Chowkdy about 12 km from Padra town. Police said the accident took place after a truck driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed a rickshaw coming from the opposite side.
According to officials at the Padra police station, there were more than 10 passengers in the rickshaw when the accident occurred. While two of them died on the spot, the truck driver managed to escape.
“The passengers were on their way to Sakarda village from Boj where they had been to attend a social function. At around 10.30 am, when the rickshaw reached the Mahuvad crossing, the truck collided with a rickshaw resulting in the fatal accident,” said an official at Padra police station. The injured were rushed to Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad (SSG) Hospital for treatment.
