He earned a suspension from the National Cricket Academy due to his cockiness, he was branded as a chucker in a Sharjah tournament in 1999. Now, Harbhajan Singh has put all those murky past into shade and is on his way to become the premier strike bowler of India.
With a tour to Australia is fast approaching, Harbhajan is ready to repeat his sorcery in the bouncy wickets of Perth and Brisbane.
‘‘If we play to our full potential we can beat Australia at their home. We have a bunch of talented bowlers and batsmen and we have been playing good cricket for the last couple of years. I know the conditions are different in Australia. If Shane Warne can take wickets in Australian pitches why not us as there will be something for spinners in the track from Day Three or four,’’ Harbhajan said on Sunday. An injury to his spinning finger is almost healed and this has given an impetus to Harbhajan’s dream of performing well in Down Under.
