TN overall champs, Maharashtra 2nd

BHOPAL, FEB 7: Tamil Nadu has won the overall championship of the 16th National Karate Championship. Maharashtra was declared runner-up in the five-day championship which concluded on Sunday.

Tamil Nadu bagged 11 gold and the same number of silver medals and six bronze medals while Maharastra won eight gold, six silver and eight bronze medals. Orissa finished third with two gold and silver medals each and four bronze.

In the junior section, Vijayta (Kerela), Sudarshan (Tamil Nadu) and Purvaksh (Maharashtra) finished first, second and third respectively.
