PUNE, April 4: The Pune-Shivaji University and College Tribunal has set aside the services termination order of a librarian working with Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC). The order was served to Bharati Koparkar by the BMCC and Deccan Education Society (DES) which runs the college.

Koparkar, in her appeal to the Tribunal, had contended that she was appointed for the post of librarian in BMCC on September 1, 1995 as per the guidelines laid down by the university. Despite completing her two-year probation, Kopakar’s probation was increase twice by six-months each.

Citing reason that education director had not approved the salary grants of Koparkar thereby meaning her appointment had been rejected, BMCC and DES terminated her services with effect from September 1,1998. Subsequently, Koparkar filed an appeal in the Tribunal. In his order, given on March 24, Presiding Officer of the Tribunal P S Mane declared that Koparkar is confirmed on the post of librarian with effect from September 1, 1997 and is in continous service of BMCC and DES with effect from September 1, 1995.

Mane directed the respondents BMCC and DES to continue Koparkar as confirmed employee from the date of termination.
