
PUNE, Nov 16: Hosts Shree Suvarna Sahakari Bank lifted the JC Agashe trophy, defeating Mahesh Sahakari Bank by seven wickets in the final of the Inter Co-op Bank limited overs knockout tournament, played today at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana ground.
Mahesh Bank won the toss and elected to bat. In the stipulated 40 overs they were restricted to 159 runs losing nine wickets. A 52 run partnership between Prashant Valture and Vishal Kshirsagar for the sixth wicket steadied the innings. While Prashant stood firm with the highest contribution of 38 in 62 balls, including a lone boundary and one over the ropes, Himanshu Ghodke played a responsible knock of 34 with three hits to the fence. Vishal added 25 worthy runs to the total.
Prasad Kanade did most of the damage scalping 4 wickets for just nineteen runs in eight overs while Ranjit Khirid took two.
In reply Suvarna Bank romped home in the 29th over with seven wickets in hand.
Indrajit Kamtekar 48 (5×4) and Rahul Kanade 34 (4×4, 1×6) saw their innings through, doing the needful, but not before Avinash Kokate’s cameo innings of 24 in just 16 balls (3×4, 1×6).
