Ramjas Senior Secondary School No.1 outwitted School No.2, 15-7, 15-8 in the semi-final of the third inter-Ramjas volleyball tournament.
In the second semi-final, School No.4 beat School No.5, 15-4, 15-6.
In the football competition, Ramjas Senior Secondary School No.2 prevailed over School No.4 while Ramjas (RK Puram) triumphed over Senior Wing (Anand Parbat) 5-4.
Chess championship
Botwinnik Chess Academy will organise its annual club open chess tournament from August 17 to 24 at 24, Ferozshah Road. Entries close with CS Sharma, secretary general (phone 4673854) on August 16.
Body building meet
Doruan Yates Charitable Gym and Youngmen’s Association will organise a national-level body building championship in aid of Kargil Shaheed Parivar Kosh and District Red Cross Society at Rao Tula Ram Stadium, Rewari on September 11, according to Amit Swami, organising secretary of the meet.
Six-time Olympia body builder from England, Dorian Yates, will take part in this championship.
Paramjit felecitated
MN Sabharwal, Director General of Central Reserve Police Force congratulated Paramjit Singh for being nominated for the Arjuna Award in athletics. Parmajit Singh broke the 38-year-old record of Flying Sikh Milkha Singh with an impressive timing of 45.70 sec.
Ranica Barua first
Ranica Barua got the first position while Payal Chopra finished second in the Independence Day cross country run organised by the Sports Union of Lady Sriram College. Others who finished in that order are: Sunayana Mathur (3rd), Radhika Arora (4), Sheetal Negi (5), Birma (6), Anisha Bansal (7), Faiza (8), Avantee Datta (9) and Anamira Mishra (10).
Kanojia triumphs
In an exciting and challenging finish, Sandeep Kanojia won the bowling competition Sprite Strike Out’ held at Metro Fire here last night. Mohan Lal and Rammy were the first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively. The champion bagged exiting prizes including a Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber motercycle, T-shirt and a bowling pin. The championship drew tremendous response from bowling enthusiasts both male and female from the city. The participants included professionals, amateurs and beginners.
