Exiled former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will meet Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah on Friday to discuss his plans to return to Pakistan, his party members said.

Sharif traveled to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday on a plane sent by the king, said Ahsan Iqbal, a spokesman for Sharif’s party.

Iqbal said it was “definite” that Sharif would return to Pakistan, but that the date would only be clear after the meeting with King Abdullah.

Meanwhile, his party members today collected nomination papers for the forthcoming general election for him and his kin. Officials issued 250 nomination papers for polls to the national and provincial assemblies, including those obtained on behalf of Nawaz Sharif, his brother Shahbaz Sharif and the former premier’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz.
