MUMBAI, APRIL 21: The special squad of Zone-X gunned down a notorious gangster from the Chhota Shakeel gang, Mohan Salunkhe alias Mohan Kalia, near Dana Pani at Aqsa Beach on Wednesday evening.
Salunkhe had reportedly walked into the trap laid by the squad led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-X) Kiran Shelar, when he arrived at Dana Pani in his Maruti Frontier car at around 7.50 pm.
After identifying him, the squad officers warned the gangster to surrender. However, Salunkhe allegedly fired at the police team. The police fired back. In the exchange of fire Salunkhe was fatally injured. He was rushed to the Bhagwati Hospital where he was declared dead on admission.
