A day after the Delhi High Court denied interim bail to Tarun Tejpal, the Editor of Tehelka magazine has written to the Goa police seeking time to appear before them till Saturday.

In a notice written to the Goa police late on Wednesday night,Tejpal stated that there was not enough time to go to Goa and that he cannot depose before them until Saturday afternoon.

“I am ready to cooperate with Goa police in the investiagtion,” Tejpal mentioned in his letter.

Tejpal’s lawyer Sandeep Kapur denied moving to the Supreme Court for any relief.

According to Goa DGP Kishan Kumar,Tejpal sought time since he got the police summons only this morning.

However, the DGP refused to answer a question whether the Goa police would get a non-bailable warrant issued against him.

Earlier, labeling Tehelka founder-editor Tarun Tejpal as a “coward” for “going underground” after he was accused of sexually assaulting a colleague, the Goa government on Wednesday vehemently opposed his plea for anticipatory bail saying the veteran journalist had failed all tests laid down by courts for such bail.

Justice Sunita Gupta of the Delhi High Court, after hearing arguments by both sides, said she would rule on the petition Friday.
