RDX might have been used to trigger the blast in the Haldibari-Siliguri passenger train in North Bengal on Monday, intelligence sources said on Wednesday. Sources said the Darjeeling Mail was the target as two bogies of the passenger train were attached to it at New Jalpaiguri station before leaving for Sealdah station in Kolkata. The explosives went off before reaching Jalpaiguri, they said. Superintendent of Railway Police, North Bengal, Mahendra Singh Punia said the use of RDX could not be confirmed till the report of experts was received. Samples from the blast site had been collected and a report was expected tomorrow evening, he said. Punia said a police team and forensic experts from Kolkata arrived here on Wednesday. Meanwhile, West Bengal Sports Minister Subhas Chakraborty said the Centre could not avoid responsibility for Monday’s blast in the passenger train at Belakoba after visiting the injured.
