A huge mosaic puzzle will cover an area of 300 square metres outside the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre on Sunday.
Natalya Yaroslavtseva,the minister of culture of the Novosibirsk region,told Itar-Tass that the mosaic consisting of 1,023 elements depicted a picture by famous German Renaissance painter Albreht Durer titled “Self-Portrait in Fur
“Anyone will be able to take part in making this puzzle. After the mosaic is completed,people will get a chance to take a unique photo against its background,” Yaroslavtseva went on to say.
The puzzle consists of 1,023 elements,each of which has a size of 70 X 70 cm and weighs about 800 grams. It will take at least four hours to draw all the pieces together.
Vasily Yurchenko,the governor of the Novosibirsk region,German Consul in Novosibirsk Klaus Muller and Novosibirsk Mayor Vladimir Gorodetsky are expected to participate in the puzzle assembling event.
The action is devoted to the Year of Germany in Russia that will be under way from June 2012 to June 2013.
It has been organized by the Goethe German Cultural Center,the Ministry of Culture of the Novosibirsk region,the German General Consulate in Novosibirsk and the administration of the city of Nuremburg.
“Our project’s aim is to expand and deepen Russian-German partnership.
In the next 12 months a wide range of events covering politics,economy,culture and science will represent Germany in Russia,” Germany’s Consul in Novosibirsk Klaus Muller said.
Novosibirsk will host a series of cultural events and exhibitions within the framework of the Year of Germany in Russia.
The Ecology,Design,Synergy exhibition will be on view at the City Center of Fine Arts on September 13-30. The Musik+X interactive exhibition is scheduled for late
November. A festival of German cinema will be held early in December.
