Off-spinner Graeme Swann claimed two cheap wickets on Tuesday as England kept their grip on the third Test against the West Indies at lunch on the third day.
The home team, resuming on 55-1,went to the break on 132-3 in reply to Englands commanding first innings total of 566-9 declared.
Devon Smith and nightwatchman Daren Powell extended their overnight stand to 64 in the first hour to stall the visitors. But two balls after the drinks break,Swann broke through with the key scalp of opener Smith.
Left-hander Smith compiled 38 off 90 balls with six fours before he tried an ugly swing to leg and lost his leg stump as he missed.
Swann was unlucky not to claim Powell when a thin edge went undetected by umpire Rudi Koertzen. Swann did remove the same batsman a few runs later, when his edge was well caught by Paul Collingwood at slip.
