Mumbai Police Crime Branch is likely to initiate proceedings to extradite Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf and bookies Sanjay and Pawan Jaipur. While Rauf is in Pakistan, the bookies are believed to be in Dubai.

Police said Rauf discussed betting with Vindoo Dara Singh and accepted gifts from the Jaipur brothers.

Vindoo has allegedly told police he tried to get information on pitch and match conditions from Rauf to use for betting.

“We are trying to get Rauf and the Jaipur brothers to India. If they fail to come,we might initiate extradition procedures. Vindoo claims warrant questioning of Rauf and the Jaipur brothers,” said a Crime Branch officer.

New links are emerging between Mumbai Crime Branch and Delhi Police cases as investigations progress in both cities.

Taneja claims he knows girls who were with Sree Prem Taneja, who is in crime branch custody, has allegedly revealed he knows the two girls cricketer S Sreesanth was with when he was arrested from Bandra by Delhi Police.

Taneja, said to be a major player in betting circles, was arrested from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport while allegedly trying to flee to Dubai earlier this month.

Police said he was a “facilitator” and would set up meetings between his friends and girls. “Taneja said during interrogation he knows the girls Sreesanth was with. We are probing this to see if there is a deeper link between the two cases,” said a crime branch officer. Police have also identified the Kazak two women who were allegedly present with Vindoo,Taneja and Pawan Jaipur at Oakwood and Novotel hotels in Juhu on May 16 and 17.

“The girls are seen with the three in CCTV footage of both hotels and we have established their identities. They were brought here by Vindoo on tourist visas. We will soon question them,” said the officer.

Ashwin Agarwal alias Tinku, another link between Mumbai Crime Branch and Delhi Police cases,is expected to be in the city Friday morning. He is being brought to Mumbai by Tihar Jail authorities. He will be produced in court and his police custody sought. “Tinku’s interrogation is important as he was in direct touch with Ramesh Vyas and,as per Delhi Police case, also with cricketers,” the officer said.
