At least seven persons were killed and five injured on Friday when missiles fired by a suspected US drone hit a house in a village in Pakistan’s troubled tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
The drone fired at least three missiles at the home of a tribesman in a village near Mirali, the main town in North Waziristan tribal agency. Some foreigners were believed to be present in the house at the time of the attack,TV channels reported.
There was no official word on the incident, though TV channels reported that seven persons, including militants, were killed and five others injured in the missile strike.
Pakistan’s restive tribal belt has witnessed a wave of missile strikes since mid-2008,though this was the first such attack since the new administration of US President Barack Obama assumed office on January 20.
