Rooney,Man U put on a show against All-Stars

“I liked the result,” manager Alex Ferguson said.

Wayne Rooney set up two goals and Park Ji-sung danced around a defender for another as Manchester United put on another show during its tour of the United States with a 4-0 victory over the MLS All Stars.

Anderson,Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welbeck also scored for the reigning English Premier League champions, who have outscored their opponents 18-2 to win the opening four games on their U S tour.

“I liked the result,” manager Alex Ferguson said.

Ferguson’s side will wrap up its preseason tour in Washington on Saturday against Barcelona in a rematch of the Champions League final which the Spanish team won 3-1. Then it’s back to England for the Community Shield game and the start of another season the following week.

The final score might have been a little misleading because David Beckham and his MLS teammates had a couple of good shots at goal, but make no mistake Manchester United was far superior in the game at Red Bull Arena that drew a sellout crowd of 26,760.

The Reds didn’t have a lot of chances against the MLS,but when they did they were lethal, especially with Rooney setting up the goals.

In the United States, football fans have seen Rooney scoring again and again in replays of his bicycle kick in a match last season. This time,he was perfect with his passing.

“He’s a good passer of the ball,” Ferguson said.

No split loyalties

London: Thierry Henry won’t be troubled by split loyalties when he faces Arsenal with the New York Red Bulls this weekend. So much has changed since his time in north London that the striker says he’ll have no problem playing for the Major League Soccer outfit against his old team in the two-day Emirates Cup preseason tournament, starting Sunday.

“I was injured a lot my last season at Arsenal, our first season at the new ground,” Henry said. “All my memories are of Highbury. I know the move to the Emirates had to happen but Highbury will always be the place for me.”

Henry only started 16 of 38 Premier League matches in his lone season in front of the Emirates Stadium crowd,so the Frenchman is still not completely familiar with the environment.

“When I came with Barcelona in the Champions League,I was on the bench and came on. It was a weird experience,” Henry said.

“That was the worst possible draw for me. Obviously I had to play hard and try to help my team. But it was if I was playing against my brother. I had a job to do but,you know, you love your brother and you don’t ever want to hurt your brother. This time,I think, will be completely different.”
