Praying for Yuvraj Singh’s success, mother Shabnam ‘insulted’ at Shirdi temple

Shabnam had arrived at the Shirdi temple along to pray for success of her son Yuvraj.

Yuvraj Singh’s mother,Shabnam,on Thursday lodged a complaint against an employee of the Shirdi Sai Sansthan,Shirdi, for allegedly “insulting” her at the temple premises. Shabnam apparently broke down as this was the second incident in last one month when she was apparently meted out the “humiliating” treatment.

Shabnam had arrived at the Shirdi temple along with two other relatives in the afternoon to pray for success of her son. As she stepped in the vicinity of the Sai Baba’s “samadhi mandir,” an employee rudely asked her to move away and gestured her to move in a particular direction. Offended by the slight,an agitated Shabnam stormed into the office of the executive officer of the Shirdi Sai Sansthan and lodged a written complaint with him.

“Though she was agitated and almost in tears,Shabnam politely told the executive officer that she was not treated properly. She also gave a written complaint to him,” said a senior Sansthan official.

Puneet Singh,Yuvraj’s cousin, who had accompanied Shabnam, said,”The man was rude and was ordering her to stand here, stand there. We did not like this,” he said.

Puneet said this was not the first time that such treatment was meted out to Shabnam.

‘”Last time, she ignored it,but this time we decided to lodge a written complaint,” informed Puneet.

Shabnam has also apparently named the individual who insulted her.

After she filed her written complaint, the temple administration apologised to her and promised to take corrective action.

“We have launched a probe into the matter. The probe will be carried out by the administrative officer,” said temple executive officer Ajay More.

To avoid such ugly incidents,he said, they have decided to revamp the security system and hand it over the CISF.

“The matter has been resolved,” Shabnam told this paper after darshan.

Yuvraj’s mother said that she prayed for the success of her son in all forms of the game.

“Whichever form of the game Yuvraj plays,he should achieve success,” she said.

As to whether she was disappointed that Yuvraj has not been able to make his mark in Test matches,Shabnam said,”Not disappointed, but I feel he should concentrate on any form of the game where he is doing well. Automatically,he will perform well in other forms too,” she said.

Regarding Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement,Shabnam said,”Tendulkar has given a very good piece of advice to Yuvraj. He has told Yuvraj that we are the gulam (servants) of the game and should serve it to the best of our abilities.”

Shabnam said she and Yuvraj had spoken to Tendulkar before his last match and wished him good luck.
