The Indian hockey team,after a slow 2008,are set for a packed calendar in the coming year. The first thing on the agenda,after the senior teams return from Argentina,is a short national camp before they take on Germany,New Zealand and The Netherlands in the four-nation Punjab Gold Cup in Chandigarh from January 31 to February 9.
After that,the Indian seniors will play a three-match series in New Zealand (February 19 to March 2),the Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh (in April) and the Asia Cup in Dubai (May 8-15) before they embark on a European tour for a test series between July 24 and August 17 against England,Belgium,Spain and The Netherlands.
In October and November,India will host Australia,Germany and Spain before travelling to Quimes for the FIH Champions Challenge in Argentina between December 6 and 13.
Convenor of the ad hoc committee,Mohammad Aslam Khan added that they were considering some important tours for the junior team after the World Cup in Malaysia.
