The three-member disciplinary committee set-up to look into the alleged financial irregularities committed by former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi met in New Delhi on Monday. The panel of Arun Jaitley,Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chirayu Amin are set to bring a closure to the committee’s findings. However, late on Monday there wasn’t clarity emerging on the final decision of the committee.
However, when news emerged on twitter about the possible life-ban that could be imposed by the disciplinary committee on him,Modi responded with a tweet.
“Banned from global cricket administration. Is that bad news when we have likes of Srini,Jaitley there,” Modi wrote on twitter.
Modi was responding to former Australian Test batsman and commentator Dean Jones, who commented on the disciplinary committee’s meeting. “I am hearing a rumour that Mr Lalit Modi is about to hear some bad news!” Jones wrote.
Earlier last week Modi had wanted the recusal of Jaitley from the committee because according to him Jaitley was a complainant in Kochi franchise dispute involving Modi.
Modi, who has been living in London for the last three years, had also offered himself to be available for cross-examination via a video link from the second week of May onwards.
The three-member Committee had also met for two consecutive days in the national capital April 22 and 23 during which it heard versions of Modis legal team and BCCI counsels, official sources said.
