Bonnie and Clyde return in a new TV series
Among the inventions of the new Bonnie & Clyde a four-hour extravaganza on TV is a voice-over narration for young killer Clyde Barrow. At turning points in the story,Barrow muses about fate,love and the reasons for the deadly two-year crime spree he carried out with Bonnie Parker and other associates in the early 1930s. The series,directed by Bruce Beresford,stars Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger as Barrow and Parker. Critics have said that two seem too young,too fresh for it to be believable,especially when compared with Arthur Penns 1967 film which showcased bravura performances by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
Cliff Richard retires from calendar shoots
Veteran pop star Cliff Richard is finally calling time on his racy photoshoots for his annual calenders. The 73-year-old singer,whose calendar has been highlighting his changing hairstyles and fashion since 1979,said the 2014 edition will be his last. How many shapes can I pull with this body? Its a pressure, Richard said during a show. But the singer has no plans of quitting his singing career. I am still loving it. I wish I could stop. And sometimes when I stop for a few months,I think if I never sang again I wouldnt mind, he said. But then someone suggests a project and Im like Oh yeah,I can do that.
Sandler tops Forbes list of most-overpaid actors
comedian Adam Sandler topped Forbess list of Hollywoods most-overpaid actors. Sandler,47,the star of recent comedies Jack & Jill and Thats My Boy,dethroned Eddie Murphy. Forbes estimated that Sandlers last three films returned $3.40 for every dollar he was paid. Katherine Heigl,who starred in the poorly performing Killers and One for the Money,was behind Sandler,returning $3.50 per every dollar she earned. Reese Witherspoon,the star of recent films Water for Elephants and This Means War,was third,with an average return of $3.90 for every dollar she was paid.
