Its a Wonderful Life,but will it stay?
Fans outraged that a sequel to a beloved holiday film is in the works are no longer out in the cold. A spokeswoman for Paramount Pictures,who own the rights to Its a Wonderful Life,said that the studio would fight a group of producers who are working on a follow-up to the 1946 holiday classic. Directed by Frank Capra,the film stars James Stewart as George Bailey,a desperate family man who imagines during Christmas time what his town would be like if hed never been born. The sequel would focus on Baileys unlikeable grandson. Fans and celebrities took to the Internet to protest against the film. Jimmy Kimmel called it a terrible idea. Frank Capras son Tom said that his father would have never approved. AP
Rights to Elvis Presley brand sold
Authentic Brands (ABG),a New York-based intellectual property corporation that manages brands including Marilyn Monroe and Muhammad Ali,has bought Elvis Presleys intellectual property and the right to operate the Graceland tourist attraction from CORE Media Group. As part of the deal,National Entertainment Collectibles Association founder Joel Weinshanker acquires Gracelands operating rights. The purchase gives ABG control of Elvis Presley Enterprises,which manages the licensing and merchandising rights to Presleys image,name and likeness,in addition to a massive collection of music,photos,movies,television appearances and performances featuring the King of Rock n Roll.
