Mitchell Johnson has been rushed back into the Australian team for Fridays one-day match against South Africa at the SCG.
Johnson returns following a fortnights rest after the SCG Test, pushing Ben Hilfenhaus out of the 12-man squad for the third match of the five-game series, with the teams tied 1-1. Spinner Nathan Hauritz is also likely to play his first match of the series, though the playing XI will be named only on Friday morning, before the match starts.
Johnsons presence will add much-needed firepower to an attack already featuring Shaun Tait and Nathan Bracken. Mitchell will obviously come back in, Australia captain Ricky Ponting said. That is a good sign. Hauritz is in the 12 and Hilfenhaus is the one who misses out. We will see what this weather does tomorrow before we actually play, he added.
However, with off-spinner Nathan Hauritz being more of a passenger in the T20 and ODI series,it is yet to be seen whether Australia can find a place for him on his home ground.
South Africa, meanwhile, have rotated their fast bowlers in the first two games with Dale Steyn the only one without rest. Jacques Kallis is set to become the first South African to cross the 10,000-run mark in ODIs. He is just 16 runs short of the target, and four wickets away from becoming the fourth South African to claim 250 ODI victims.
