Eoin Morgan’s splendid show with the bat was not enough as the Irishman didn’t get an able ally to see his side through. The Kolkata Knight Riders were bundled up for their lowest total against the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

A spirited effort with the ball made life difficult for the visitors, who, courtesy some poor shot selection, never got going.

It was Rahul Shukla’s double strike which swayed the momentum the home side’s way. The double break injected a fresh lease of life into this ordinary looking bowling unit as the bowlers picked wickets at regular intervals.

Siddharth Trivedi was the star for the Royals as the seamer, apart from picking three wickets, didn’t go for too many runs and recorded brilliant figures of 3/23. West Indian Kevon Cooper was again in the scheme of things as the crafty bowler ended with 3/15 to his name.

Earlier, after put into bat,Rajasthan Royals didn’t get off to a good start as the home side lost all-rounder Shane Watson in the third over. Ajinkya Rahane (36) did stitch some useful partnerships with both Rahul Dravid (17) and Stuart Binny (14) but couldn’t convert the start.

The Royals were in a spot of bother at 63/3 but a mature knock by Brad Hodge (46*) guided the team to a competitive 144/6. KKR bowled some tight lines to contain the flow of runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Sunil Narine was again the pick of the bowlers as the spinner picked the all-important wicket of Rahane and recorded figures of 2/28. Brett Lee finally found his rhythm as the speedster gave nothing away in his quota of four overs and scalped the dangerous Watson early.
