The two teams last met in the final of the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League, where Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious to deny Chennai Super Kings their third title.

This time, the teams will go head to head at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, and an exciting spin contest is on the cards. Sunil Narine,Sachithra Senanayake,R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will enjoy bowling on the strip assisting the spinners.

Even in the last fixture at this ground, the spin duo of Senanayake and Narine contained the flow of runs but were able to pick only one wicket.

KKR batsmen had a good outing and helped their side post 180 on the board. Gautam Gambhir,Jacques Kallis and Eoin Morgan got runs under their belt, and Morgan,in particular, looked in sublime touch. The aggressive southpaw scored a 21-ball 47.

Both CSK and KKR are very similar in their team composition. With heavy dependence on spinners, the teams have some brutal hitters, both at the top and down the order.

Apart from specialists, they field some handy all-rounders,who have the ability to sway the momentum of the game in their favour. The skippers are doing the bulk of the scoring and will want others to make handy contributions today.

The spin factor

It will be a great sight to see Narine,Senanayake,Jadeja and Ashwin bowl in the same fixture. KKR hold a slight edge in this department as their mystery duo is in good rhythm. Ashwin and Jadeja are not too far behind but the duo will have to be on top of their game to outshine the mystery!

Curious case of Yusuf Pathan

The belligerent all-rounder is completely out of sorts in the tournament so far. He has failed to make a move on,and is all at sea in the middle. The right-hander,if at all he plays today, will have to get his act right.

Opening woes

Both KKR and CSK are experiencing a hard time at the top of the order. Micheal Hussey and Gautam Gambhir are doing the job for their teams but they are not getting enough support from the other end. Murali Vijay and Manvinder Bisla will have to share the load and make substantial contributions.

Tidbits

There are two handy names in both squads, who are more than useful with both bat and ball. Rajat Bhatia (KKR) and Dwayne Bravo (CSK) may not be the impact players, but their role is very crucial for their side. They have the capability to contain the flow of runs with their cutters and variations, and can hit the big shots when required.
