An Indian-origin man was today re-arrested in connection with the sensational murder of an oil executive who disappeared some weeks ago and whose decomposed body was found in a car in London last Thursday.
Rakesh Bhayani,40,described as an unemployed man based in Wembley, was charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by withdrawing nearly 280,000 pounds from the account of executive Carole Waugh,50.
He was remanded to custody on July 24 to appear at the Southwark Crown Court on September 25,but today’s re-arrest has been made on suspicion of murder,Scotland Yard said.
He is among six people arrested in connection with Waugh’s murder.
The police said: “Officers investigating the disappearance of Carole Waugh have re-arrested Rakesh Bhayani,40,of Chamberlayne Avenue,Wembley,on suspicion of murder. He is currently being interviewed at a south London police station”.
Carole’s body was found in a car in a garage in south-west London, and the police said she had been dead for some time.
A post-mortem examination found that she died from a stab wound.
As the murder mystery hogs headlines, one Nicholas Kutner was arrested for pretending to be Chris Waugh,Carole’s brother, and trying to sell her house in London.
He faces four fraud charges.
Carole, who some reports suggested that she was also an ‘escort’,was last seen in central London on May 4.
Originally from Durham,Carole worked earlier in the Middle East and lived in the Marylebone area of London.
