Spinner Rangana Herath picked up his 15th five-wicket haul and combined with seamer Nuwan Kulasekara to help Sri Lanka dismiss Bangladesh for 240 on the opening day Saturday of the second Test. Bangladesh immediately set about making amends,dismissing Tillakaratne Dilshan off the third ball of Sri Lanka’s reply when he cut at seamer Robiul Islam only to edge behind for a duck.

Sri Lanka was 18-1 at stumps with Dimuth Karunaratne on 12 and Kumar Sangakkara on 3. Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and sent Bangladesh in to bat first on an R Premadasa Stadium pitch which made both sides pick three seamers and only one spinner. Kulasekara also gave Sri Lanka an early breakthrough,trapping Tamim Iqbal lbw for 10 with the score on 16.
