The annual general meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could see a few new appoints for top jobs.
According to sources in the board,Anirudh Chaudhary of Haryana Cricket Association is in fray to become IPLs chairman. It is also learnt that the BCCI could approach former India captain Rahul Dravid to take over at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The post of the director at NCA in Bangalore has been vacant since Sandeep Patil,who performed the role earlier,had become the chairman of the national selection committee last year.
We are going to approach Dravid soon. He stays in Bangalore and will be retiring after the Champions League T20. Having someone of his stature run things will be a big boost for NCA and Indian cricket, a top BCCI official said.
Meanwhile,among various names doing the rounds,Chaudharys is the most likely to be announced as a replacement for Rajeev Shukla,who had earlier resigned as the IPL chairman following the fixing allegations of this years edition. Chaudhary,son of former BCCI chief Ranbir Singh Mahendra,has been a part of the IPL governing council and is the chairman of BCCIs musuem committee.
He understand the IPL set-up and has been a part of it for the last couple of years. He is one of the leading candidates for the post. He may also become the chairman of the finance committee if not the IPL chief, informed another BCCI official.
New vice presidents?
The other names that will be discussed for the job are that of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association chief Jyotriaditya Scindia but it is learnt that his appointment is not very likely.
Meanwhile,the AGM could also see new vice-presidents appointed from five zones. A few of the old names in the IPL governing council are also expected to be retained.
