Criticised for his poor show with the new ball in the Champions Trophy,Ishant Sharma found support in India and Delhi team mate Gautam Gambhir. As he is playing only his second season in international cricket,Gambhir believes that the young pacer should be given more encouragement. Ishant has been playing a lot of cricket. He has been consistently doing well for the last two years. He is just 21 and I feel one should give him that leverage. Instead of criticising him we should support him, because it is very easy to criticise someone, Gambhir said.
Sharma was benched for the final match of the Champions Trophy against West Indies, after a dismal performace against Australia, where his bowling figures read 1/53 in 7.3 overs before the rains put an end to his troubles. The Indian opener claims that if Sharma is given adequate support,he will flourish into one of the best bowlers in the country. In future I am sure Ishant will be spearheading the Indian pace attack. He could become one of the best bowlers we have ever seen. We just need to give him confidence, he added.
