ESPN STAR bags BPL broadcast rights for three seasons

Sports content provider ESPN STAR Sports has bagged the exclusive rights to broadcast Barclays Premier League (BPL) football in India on multiple platforms for next three seasons.

Sports content provider ESPN STAR Sports has bagged the exclusive rights to broadcast Barclays Premier League (BPL) football in India on multiple platforms for next three seasons.

A total of 380 BPL matches will be available live on different platforms,including television,Internet and mobile phones,with upto 190 matches available on a VOD basis,an ESPN STAR Sports release said on Wednesday.

The broadcaster also clinched an exclusive right for 17 other Asian countries,including Pakistan,Sri Lanka,Nepal,Bangladesh,Bhutan,Myanmar,Maldives,Mongolia,Indonesia and South Korea.

“We have been showcasing the BPL in India for over a decade now and we are very pleased to further extend this association for another three seasons. This renewal underlines our commitment to football fans in India as we continue providing the most compelling content to our viewers and an excellent promotional platform for our business partners,” Managing Director of ESPN STAR Sports Manu Sawhney said.
