A British lawmaker who was suspended from the Labour party for fighting in a House of Commons bar was arrested again following a brawl in another parliamentary bar, according to reports.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that police had been called shortly before 10.30 PM (2230 GMT/0400 IST today) to deal with reports of a disturbance at the Sports and Social Club bar.
“Officers attended and a man aged in his 50s was arrested in connection with this incident. “He remains in custody and inquiries continue,” said the spokesman.
Britain’s domestic Press Association named the man as Eric Joyce, citing House of Commons sources.
Joyce was convicted of four counts of assault and given 12 months’ community service after headbutting Conservative MP Stuart Andrew, hitting two Tory councillors and striking Labour MP Phil Wilson last year.
The former soldier has already said he will stand down at the next Election after quitting the Labour party. (AFP)
