Younis,Afridi call truce

Karachi: With a packed four-month long cricketing schedule awaiting Pakistan,captain Younis Khan and his deputy Shahid Afridi have cleared their misunderstanding in a meeting,sources said on Friday. As the team prepares for the long tour of Abu Dhabi,Dubai,New Zealand and Australia,Abdul Raquib,sports division head of Habib Bank for whom they play in the domestic circuit,arranged the truce meeting.

4 NSW players in All-Star list

Hyderabad: Brett Lee,Moises Henriques and Phil Hughes joined their NSW Blues team mate David Warner in the Champions League All-Star XI team. The trio were rewarded for their consistent show in the Twenty20 tournament. Trinidad and Tobago has three players in the list — Kieron Pollard,stumper Denesh Ramdin and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Panesar disappoints

East London: England discard Monty Panesar took one expensive wicket for Highveld Lions against Eastern Cape Warriors in his South African four-day championship debut. Panesar,who joined the Johannesburg-based Lions to try and revive his international career,claimed the wicket of Justin Kreusch at Buffalo Stadium in this coastal Cape city. But it came at a price with the 27-year-old spinner conceding 56 runs in a 19-over spell that included three maidens on a pitch dampened by overnight rain.

Misbah scores double ton

Karachi: Discarded from the national team for all three formats of the game,Misbah-ul-Haq responded with a knock of 284 in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in a record fifth-wicket stand on Friday. Misbah and Usman Arshad (183) put on 479 runs for the fifth wicket for Sui Northern Gas against the Lahore Shalimar team and the duo were 41 runs short of the highest ever fifth-wicket stand of an unbeaten 520 set by Saurashtra’s Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja against Orissa in 2008.

SA drop Gibbs,Ntini

Johannesburg: Herschelle Gibbs and Makhaya Ntini have been left out of South Africa’s squad for one-day international matches against Zimbabwe and England. All-rounder Ryan McLaren is in line to make his international debut,while Charl Langeveldt has been recalled.
