Treble winners Bayern Munich reclaimed top spot on 20 points on Saturday despite a 1-1 draw at Bayern Leverkusen with Borussia Dortmund suffering their first defeat of the season with a 2-0 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach to drop to second place on 19. Meanwhile,striker Pierre Michel Lasogga scored a hat-trick in eight minutes to lead Hamburg SV to a 5-0 demolition of Nuremberg and hand new coach Bert van Marwijk his first victory in his second game in charge. This was Hamburg’s first win in four games and it lifted Hamburg off the relegation playoff spot and into 14th on eight points. Nuremberg are in 16th on five points.

Salgaocar thump M. Sporting

Salgaocar FC kept their winning momentum going as they scored a convincing 3-0 win over Mohammedan Sporting to notch up their second win in the Airtel I-League at the Duler Stadium. Salgaocar,who led 1-0 at half time,scored through Darryl Duffy (43rd),Claude Gnakpa (48th) and Augustin Fernandes (63rd). The win takes Salgaocar’s tally to six points from two matches. Durand Cup Champions,Mohammedan Sporting,who suffered their second defeat,are yet to open their account. Salgaocar did most of the attacking and even earned seven corners in the first half. However,they were not successful until the 43rd minute when Darryl Duffy who slotted the ball home to give Salgaocar a 1-0 lead at half time. Duffy was adjudged as the man of the match.

Klitschko beats Povetkin

Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko gave Alexander Povetkin his first loss by earning a unanimous decision to keep his WBA and IBF belts on Saturday. Klitschko knocked down Povetkin three times in the seventh round. All three judges ruled 119-104 each for Klitschko (61-3,52 KO),handing Povetkin his first defeat in 27 fights. Klitschko stuck to his usual tactics,scoring frequently off his left jap and forcing Povetkin to attack,but the Russian rarely succeeded. Klitschko first knocked Povetkin down with a combination 51 seconds into the seventh round. He floored Povetkin again with a left hook 35 seconds later,and again with 57 second left,but the Russian recovered. “Povetkin is a fighter with high spirit,” said Klitschko’s elder brother,Vitali. “He fought till the end. I do not think the bout could have been finished earlier. If Wladimir could do it he would have certainly done it.”
