Hashim Amla walked away with four top honours in the Cricket South Africa’s annual awards,including the coveted ‘Cricketer of the Year’ . Amla lost in just one of the top categories by teammate AB de Villiers,who won the ODI Player of the Year award. Amla’s other awards were ‘Test Cricketer of the Year’ and ‘SA Fans’ Cricketer of the Year’ by popular vote while his treble century in The Oval Test against England won him the KFC ‘So Good’ award. De Villiers picked up a second award as the SA Players’ Player of the Year while Dale Steyn was named KFC T20 International Player of the Year.
Smith,Steyn return for Pakistan series
Graeme Smith was named in South Africa’s test and one-day squads on Tuesday for the series against Pakistan next month even though the opening batsman hasn’t fully recovered from ankle surgery. Head selector Andrew Hudson said team management should have a definite picture of Smith’s recovery in the next two weeks after South Africa’s test captain had pins inserted to repair a stress fracture in his left ankle in May. Fast bowler Dale Steyn also returned after missing the trip to Sri Lanka in July and August with injury. Jacques Kallis was again left out of the ODI squad having skipped the Champions Trophy.
Shetty gets injunction against MCA ban
