David Warner’s older brother Steve Warner let loose in a Twitter rant painting Shane Watson a selfish pretender while advising Cricket Australia where to look for a solution for Australia’s batting woes. Tweeting from @warnedog79,since shut down,he even tweeted his support for sacked coach Mickey Arthur earlier this week.

Steve Warner tweeted shortly after Watson had wasted a review. ‘F**king selfish Watson sooner your out if the side you great pretender the better.’

He was at it again as Australia were skittled out for 128 in their first innings. ‘Ok @CricketAus I hope u have a business class seat booked from SA to London because its about time u had a batsmen who will have a go.’

David Warner has since distanced himself from his brother’s tweet about Shane Watson stating his brother has his own opinions.

Mickey Arthur is furious that details of a $4 million law suit by him against Cricket Australia over his sacking on a “totally unfair basis” were leaked. Details of a rift between Clarke and Watson also tumbled out. Arthur’s case rests on a claim to have been made ‘a scapegoat’,causing damage to his reputation and career.

Earlier this week,Steve Warner sent a tweet in support of the embattled former Aussie coach. ‘Good on Mickey Arthur finally letting the truth be known and proving he was just an escape goat #awesomebloke #Gentlemen.’

Former Australian captain Allan Border weighed in on Shane Watson and Australia’s batting dilemma by stating “Shane’s time will have come and gone and we won’t have seen the best of him.” For such a talented cricketer who can light up a cricket field when on song,“it will be a real shame if he doesn’t fulfil his potential.”

Writing for Cricket Australia,Border was frank in his assessment. “Our major concern right now is the performance of the top six. I could honestly say the nine,10 and jack looked more competent than our one,two and three.”

A few hours after Australia’s shambolic defeat in the Lord’s Test,Cricket Australia sent out a press release. “Cricket Australia’s strategy for the BBL is working. The league has been successful in attracting a new, diverse fan base in its first two years with its mix of big hits, great value and explosive action.”

The timing of the reference to the Big Bash gave an insight as to where Cricket Australia’s priorities might lie backed up by statistics the report went on to cite.

The CA is fast becoming a hub of tweets and press releases designed to bewilder and entertain, which can probably also be said of this Australian cricket team.
