50 pc shoppers leave store for playing annoying music: survey
Audio is most effective way to capture the attention and imagination of people.
Three-fourth of shoppers notice the songs played in a store and the duration of their stay depends upon their liking for the song,a new survey has found.
According to the survey of 1,000 shoppers conducted by Immedia Plc,49 per cent said they had stayed longer in a store,but overall,50 per cent of them had left because they didnt like what was playing or they found it annoying.
23 per cent of those surveyed said they would be less likely to return to a retailer if they didnt like its choice of soundtrack.
Audio is the most effective way to capture the attention and imagination of people who are on the move inside your shop or restaurant, Bruno Brookes,the chief executive of Immedia Plc said.
This is supported by numerous scientific studies that demonstrate how an effective music strategy does everything from improve staff morale to enhance the customer experience,to crucially increase sales.
Especially given the challenging economic environment,it is important to optimise every element of a customers sensory experience, he said.
