President took me for a prostitute: Miss Peru

Miss Peru, Ivette Santa Maria, has claimed she was the victim of a prostitution ring in Gabon, where the President allegedly mistook her for a prostitute. ‘‘I am a victim and am sure it was a network trafficking women that took me to Gabon for the Miss Humanity Contest’’, Santa Maria said yesterday. She said she was taken to Gabonese President Omar Bongo’s palace and left alone with the President, who opened a door revealing a bed. ‘‘I was floored,’’ said Santa Maria, who left the room and took a taxi back to her hotel. — (PTI)
