Bharati said she would file an FIR in Delhi against ASI officials and political leaders involved in laying the foundation stone of the Sethusamudram Project under Section 295 (C) of the IPC for hurting feelings of a religious community.

“Filing such an affidavit was a stupid agenda and withdrawal is a political agenda.” She said she was consulting her lawyers on who all can be included in the FIR to be filed on September 22. She said she was opposed to any person of foreign origin holding a high office in India precisely for such reasons. According to her, Sonia Gandhi, PM Manmohan Singh and several leaders of the UPA and DMK were present when the foundation of the controversial project was laid.
