NEW DELHI, June 1: In the run-up to the second round of foreign secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan slated for June 19, the government in Islamabad seems to be using the excuse of an Indian fighter jet’s “violation” of its airspace to lobby for a hike in its defence budget.
Foreign minister Capt Gohar Ayub Khan said that the airspace violation by an Indian Mig-25 fighter jet earlier in the week could not be repulsed, because Pakistan does not have any aircraft or missile or other defence capability to intercept aircrafts at 72,000 feet.
