
Ahmednagar, Oct 15: The third convention of the Brihan Maharashtra Oriental Studies Conference will be held at Sangamner from October 31 to November 2.
The three-day conference will be inaugurated by Dr. Pankaj Chande, Vice-Chancellor of the Ramtek-based Kalidas Sanskrit University. Dr. M K Dhawalikar, indologist and former director of Deccan College, will preside over the inaugural function.
The speakers on the first day of the conference will include Dr. D K Kharwandikar (Indian religious philosophy), Prof. Vimal Lele (literature and language science), Dr. R S Morwanchikar (history and archaeology), Dr. Pramod Joglekar (science and technology) and Dr. Raosaheb Kasbe (Culture of Maharashtra). On the same day, there will be a symposium on the theme of The building of Maharashtra’s culture’. The participants will include Dr. D T Bhosale, Dr. Kasbe, Dr. Prabhakar Mande, W L Manjul and Vidya Gauri (Sakrikar).
On November 1, in all 135 research papers will be presented at the conference. A symposium on the theme of Inspirations for the study of the Vedas’ will also be held. President’s award winner and veteran Sankrit scholar Dr. V N Dharmadhikari will preside over the symposium. The participants will include G N Koparkar, Dr. G U Thite, Dr. M A Mehendale, Dr. Vasant Patil, Dr. M D Paradkar, P G Lale and Dr. Srikant Badulkar.
A session on the theme of Challenges in study during the 21st century’ will be organised on November 2. Veteran grammarian Dr. G B Palsule will preside and the speakers will include C M Krishnashastri, S D Kavishwar, Pandit Gulam Dastagir and Pandit Vasant Gadgil. Acharya Kishor Vyas, president of Vedvyas Pratishthan, C M Krishnashatri and K N Deshmukh will be the chief guests.
The speeches and summary of the research papers will be published by the organisers.
