The BJP-led Opposition today walked out of the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour, expressing dissatisfaction over Commerce Minister Kamal Nath’s reply on Foreign Direct Investment in the retail sector. The House was adjourned for about half an hour.

The NDA and some UPA supporters, including Left and Samajwadi Party, demanded a categorical assurance that the government would not allow FDI in the retail sector without taking Parliament into confidence. Kamal Nath said he had taken note of sentiments of the House and a discussion was on with all the stake-holders.
