BHUBANESWAR, Oct 17: National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will instal at least two units of 500 mw each to its facility at Kaniha near Talcher in Orissa by 2003 to augment bulk supply of power to southern states, corporation sources said.
The new units will be set up in view of the government’s greater thrust on public sector power companies to deal with the worsening power situation in southern states, the sources said. The demand for energy in those states has been rising consistently by seven to 10 per cent every year and the gap had to be bridged by enhancing the generation capacity, the sources said
