Tragedy has been stalking the Vohra family since Thursday. Neeru Vohra, hurt in the foot and arm in today’s stampede, had arrived with husband Kamal Kumar from Shahjahanpur to take care of her brother-in-law, Ashok Kumar Vohra, at the Northern Railway Central Hospital.

Her brother-in-law, a railway employee, had got injured after being pushed out of a crowded compartment on a Shahjahanpur-Delhi train at Sahibabad on Thursday.

Ashok was admitted to the hospital with injuries so severe that his left arm had to be amputated. Today, his sister-in-law was admitted to the same hospital. ‘‘Now we will have to take care of both of them,’’ Kamal said, asking why adequate measures had not been taken to prevent overcrowding because of the holiday season.
