CHENNAI, July 5: In a bid to popularise the concept of rain water harvest, the Chennai Metorpolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has made it mandatory for new houses to have such a provision in order to get domestic water connections. According to the managing director of the Board, Shantha Sheela Nair, rain water that was considered a bother by residents was let out on the streets and allowed to stagnate. On the other hand, if it was let into the ground within the house, it would improve the quality of gorund water, she says.
