SHIMLA, Aug 11: The Himachal Pradesh government today ordered significant changes in the higher echelons of the state police posting an Inspector General rank officer in the CID and revamping other organs of the police.

The changes, which have been necessitated following massacre of 35 persons in Chamba, however leave Director General of Police B.S Thakur untouched contrary to earlier speculations. The police force and state intelligence had come under sharp attack after the massacre last week.

The orders for postings revealed that B.L Pandit Inspector General(IG) police headquarters has been posted as IG CID and will be second-in-command to A.K. Puri, the additional director general of police. Sumesh Goel, the DIG CID had also been shifted and posted as DIG armed police and training.

O.S. Singh, vigilance and security in the state power board has been shifted to railway and traffic while Ravinder Kumar, DIG from the headquarters goes to the state power board to replace O.S. Singh.

Ashok Sood, the DIG armed police, training has been posted as DIG administration in place of Vijay Pual Singh who has been posted to the Police Training School Droh, in Kangra district. From there, R.K. Singh has been brought as DIG Wirless against a upgraded post of SP.

Somesh Goel, DIG CID, has been posted as DIG armed police and training.

D.P Sharma on his return from foreign deputation has been posted as SP Una in place of Ahmed P. Siddiqui who goes to Dharmsala as commandant second battalion. D.C. Thakur, the SP crime CID, has been posted as SP special CID vice R.L. Sood who has been posted SP crime in CID.

V.N. Sharma, the ASP, on return from foreign deputation has been posted as ASP Hamirpur against a newly created post. N.L. Chogal has been posted as ASP Shimla against newly created post.

V.K. Dhawan on return from deputation has been posted as ASP Mandi, Ram Lal ASP Mandi had been posted as ASP Kullu against a newly created post.

Ram Kumar ASP Indian Reserve battalion (IRB) has been posted as ASP IRB operation Kihar Chamba. At the senior level ADG VIGILANCE P.J.S Kumar has been posted as such in enforcement, ADG Enforcement V.S Malick has been shifted as ADG prisons.
